Estus Thomas Jr.

Estus Thomas Jr. passed away at his residence on Monday, Nov. 19, 2018, at the age of 86. Born in Washington Parish on June 9, 1932, he was a long-time resident of Bogalusa. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean War and retired as a sergeant E-8. He also retired with the Bogalusa Fire Department. He was a faithful member of Superior Avenue Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Jackie Thomas of Bogalusa; and his two sons, Gordon Thomas of Bogalusa, and Norman (Shania) Thomas of Bogalusa; his two grandchildren, Kassidy (Jordan) Crain of Bogalusa, and Kasie (Loren) Creel of Franklinton; great-grandson, Tucker Creel; and a great-grandson that’s soon to be here, Brice Crain.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Estus and Eva Thomas Sr. and Margie Nell Sheridan.

A service celebrating his life will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home in Bogalusa on Wednesday, Nov. 21. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Visitation will continue until the service begins at 2 p.m. The Rev. Clay Norwood will officiate. Interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens in Bogalusa.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to Superior Avenue Baptist Church.
