Edmond C. Thomas Jr., affectionately known by family and friends as “Bully Jr.,” or just “Junior,” departed his life here on earth on Nov. 1, 2018, at 5:30 a.m. at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. Edmond C. Thomas Jr. was the first born and only son born to Edmond C. Thomas Sr. and Ernestine Andrews Thomas of Kentwood.

His stint at Grambling was short-lived, for he left school and enlisted in the U.S. Army. His tour of duty in the military took him many places, such as Ft. Bliss, Texas, Ft. Carson, Colo., Key West, Fla., and Okinawa, Japan. He returned home after being honorably discharged from the military and enrolled at Southern University in Baton Rouge, matriculating in Architecture.

He leaves to mourn his passing: one son, Edmond Andre James (Katrina), of Las Vegas, Nev.; two daughters, LaTonya D. Thomas, of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Amber Batson, of Texas. He also leaves to mourn his passing: three loving sisters, Ola Thomas and Caprice (Denise) Thomas, of Franklinton, and Audra T. Winters of Kentwood. He was especially fond of his sisters and always played the role of the doting big brother. He has a host of nieces and nephews who will miss him and his wit and encouraging words of wisdom. His seven granddaughters and five great-grandchildren will miss him dearly. He was known to all of the grands as “Grandpa Thomas.” He also leaves to mourn his passing numerous cousins and friends.

His memorial will be held on Friday, Nov. 23, at 1 p.m. at Cross Memorial Funeral Home in Amite.
