Frank Strickland

Frank James Strickland, 86, passed away Nov. 7, 2018, at his home in Bogalusa, two days before his 87th birthday. He was born Nov. 9, 1931, in Osyka, Miss., to parents Henry and Dean Strickland. After graduating from Osyka High School in 1950, he moved to Bogalusa and enlisted in the U.S. Navy for four years and then went to work at the Bogalusa Paper Mill for several years.
Later, he purchased Gilbert Insurance Agency, which he owned and operated for 40 years and served on the Board of Directors for Independent Insurance Agents of Louisiana for many years. Frank was also very active in his community, serving on the Board of Directors of the Bogalusa Community Medical Center for many years, as well as the Washington Parish Fair Association, United Way, Rotary Club, Bogalusa Chamber of Commerce and the American Legion. He also served on the board of Louisiana Prison Enterprise for over 16 years. Frank was a charter member of MCCA and the Den of Roogaroo.
He was also a member of First Baptist Church of Bogalusa.
Frank is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jo Ann Tynes Strickland; son, Randy Strickland; daughter, Dee Dee Strickland Carrier and son-in-law, Scott Carrier; grandchildren, Sierra Slade Emmons (Chris), Stuart Slade, (Payton Burris), Victoria Strickland, Thomas Strickland; great-grandson, Lawson Emmons; and soon to be great-granddaughter, Annalise Emmons.
