Arrangements for Sister Roxie Anna Roberts, who passed away on Oct. 20, 2018, have been completed. She worked for the Louisiana State University Expanded Food Nutrition Education Program as a Food Nutritionist for 17 years and retired Dec. 31, 1986. Mrs. Roxie educated many families with nutritional ways of preparing the most healthies meals for their families. She never grew tired of providing these needed services; she was overwhelmed with joy to be able to help others.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving and devoted children, Willie Herman Roberts Sr. of Pride, Hersey Lee (Gloria) Roberts Jr. of Angie, Maxine (James) Giles of Lufkin, Texas, Vernice (Janice) Roberts of Concord, Calif., Ernest (Stephanie) Spikes Jr. of Angie, the Rev. Gaynell (Donald Ray) Nichols of Angie, Kenneth Wayne (Clorinda) Roberts Sr. of Bogalusa, Oliver Roberts of Angie, Larry Roberts Sr. of Angie, and Lucretia Yvette (Kenneth) Pope of Huntsville, Ala.; two sisters, Luella Jackson of Angie, and Bessie Lee of San Leandro, Calif.; three brothers, Virgil (Olivia) Mondy of Angie, Herman (Ida) Mondy of Oakland, Calif., and Leonard Monday of Angie; 53 grandchildren; 111 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Hersey Lee Roberts Sr; three daughters, Nellie Mae Goodloe, Bernell R. Jones, and Charlene Roberts; father, Teman Mondy; mother, Floretta Brown Mondy; three sisters, Hattie T. Foster, Velma Nichols, and Grace Foster; four brothers, Steve Mondy, Oliver Mondy, Freddie W. Mondy, and Otha C. Mondy; and grandson, Ronnie J. Simon.
The wake was held at Live Oak United Methodist Church, located at 65701 Live Oak Road in Angie, on Friday, Oct 26, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. The funeral will be held at the same location on Saturday, Oct 27, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Terrence August officiating.
The interment will be in the Live Oak Cemetery.
