Clyde Cooper

In the early morning hours of Oct. 15, 2018, Eld. Clyde Everett Cooper, 72, a faithful servant of God, moved to his eternal Heavenly home.
He was born in Washington Parish on June 29, 1946. Bro. Cooper was a carpenter until he accepted God’s call to the ministry on August 21, 1988. Living in the Pine community for all of his life, Bro. Cooper shared God’s word as pastor for 30 years at many churches throughout Louisiana and Mississippi. He was currently the pastor at Enon Missionary Baptist Church and Serenity Missionary Baptist Church. Through his DVD and online ministry, Mission Burden, the Word spread throughout the world.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gayle Branch Cooper of Pine; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Earnie Pierce of Tylertown, Miss.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Darron and Jane Cooper, Darryl and Kim Cooper, and Clint and Carmen Cooper, all of Pine; granddaughters, Brittney Cooper and Shea Sumrall; six grandsons and spouses, Brett and Shayla Cooper, Brad and Emily Cooper, Cody and Ameliah Cooper, Hunter Cooper, Trey Cooper and Bethany McGinnis, and Chase Cooper; three great-grandchildren, AnnaRae Cooper, Addison Magee Pierce and Slade Sumrall; brother and sister-in-law, Willie and Jeanette Cooper of Pineville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marcel Graves and Eld. J.W. Graves, and Vondell and Jim Pierce; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Pat and Cathy Branch; sisters-in-law, Sandra Strahan and Faye Branch; and also numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Clifton Cooper and Ruth Mae Cooper Thomas; grandson, Drew Pierce; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Chinesey Branch; and brothers-in-law, Jimmy Branch and Walter Strahan.
Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home on Tuesday, Oct. 16, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Visitation will continue Wednesday, Oct. 17, at Forest Haven Missionary Baptist Church (31153 Conrad Seals Road in Franklinton) from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. A funeral service will be held in the church at 11 a.m. with Eld. Doyle Ball, Eld. J.W. Graves and Eld. Richard Magee officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are his six grandsons. His only granddaughter Brittney will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to the mission project founded and maintained by Bro. Cooper and Sister Gayle Cooper for many years in an effort to spread God’s Word throughout the world. Memorial donations can be sent to: Mission Burden, 24185 Byrd Road, Franklinton, LA 70438.
