Catherine “Cat” Fury Garrett was met at the gates of Heaven by her Holy Father, Angels and Saints, and her beloved husband, William D. “Red” Garrett, on Oct. 13, 2018.

Cat was a native of Monroe, where she met her devoted husband of 61 years. The family moved to Bogalusa, where they owned the “Corner Cash” grocery store for 10 years. Cat has resided in Baton Rouge for the past 50 years. She retired from Louisiana National Bank after 25 years of service. Cat loved square dancing and round dancing with her husband. She belonged to several Square Dancing and Round Dancing clubs and always looked so cute in her dancing outfits. Also, she enjoyed singing with the St. Thomas More’s “special choir.” Family and friends will always remember Cat’s beautiful singing voice, the delicious meals and scrumptious desserts she prepared, and the love she gave to others.

Cat leaves behind her daughters, Cathy Olsen (Clifton), Marla Weaver (Rusty) and Rose Marie Garrett; grandchildren, Hans “Turk” Olsen (Claire), Judy Weaver, Derek Olsen and David Weaver (Lacey); and great-grandchildren, Peyton Plaisance (Cydnie), Ruston Allain, Cooper Lambert, Cato Lambert, and baby Weaver arriving in February of 2019.

Cat is preceded in death by her husband, “Red” Garrett; mother, Rose Ticheli Fury; father, Charles Fury; brothers, Joe and Frank Fury; and her sister, Mary Lou Fury Crocker.

Visitation will be held at St. Thomas More, 11441 Goodwood Blvd. in Baton Rouge, on Thursday, Oct. 18, from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Cat’s name to Louisiana Special Olympics, her favorite charity.
