Dudley Adams

Dudley J. Adams, 87, a resident of Varnado, passed away on Sept. 29, 2018, at his residence.

He was a member of Central Missionary Baptist Church, Pine Lodge #264, and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by one son, Richard Adams of Gulfport, Miss.; one daughter, Sybil Wilkerson of Varnado; four grandchildren, Brandy Adams, Glen Adams Jr., Richard Adams III and Sarah Bauldree; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by a special friend and companion, Ivell Miley.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Ruby Lee Adams; a son, Glen Adams Sr.; parents, John and Ida Miley Adams; brothers, B.J. Adams, Alfred Adams, Charlie Adams, Doc and Newton Adams; and sisters, Dolly Carroll, Edna Jarrell, Effie Stafford and Lilly Adams.

Visitation was in the chapel of Brown-McGehee Funeral Home on Monday, Oct. 1, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Visitation continued Tuesday from 8 a.m. until the time for service in the chapel at 10 a.m., with Elder Doyle Ball, Elder Mason Miley and the Rev. Edward Penton officiating. Burial was in Central Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Magic City Post #24 of the American Legion.
