A Bogalusa man was arrested Wednesday and charged with crimes related to a recent burglary, according to Chief Deputy Mike Haley of the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Haley said that Aaron Blackwell, 25, a resident of Charlevoix Street, is in the Washington Parish Jail with his bond set at $11,500. He is charged with failure to appear in court, failure to pay fine, simple escape, burglary of an inhabited dwelling and simple burglary.
Haley said that when homeowners living south of Bogalusa recently returned home, they discovered their home had been burglarized. A television and other electronic equipment were missing.
Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives responded to the home and were able to lift fingerprints from the scene. The fingerprints matched those of Blackwell, who was located and arrested Wednesday.
During the process of being arrested, Blackwell ran from detectives, Haley said. He was chased and caught, then transported to jail.
Sheriff Randy Seal commented on Blackwell’s arrest.
“Chased, caught, cuffed. That says it all,” Seal said. “Congratulations to our officers for another job well done.”
