Mrs. Emily Hope Hill passed away at home peacefully as she wished at age 94.

She was born in Belfield, N.D., on April 4, 1924. She was known as the “cactus lady” of Washington Parish and it was not unusual to pass by her home on Ontario Avenue and see in the yard a giant century cactus plant, 30 feet tall, in full bloom.

She was very independent and never had to work, doing as she wished, and loved to travel with her sisters.

She is survived by three sons, Allen Hope, Marvin Hope and Michael Hope; one granddaughter, Tracie Stroud of Shreveport; one sister, Cecelia O’Shanick of California; and also one brother, Mike Obach of Belfield.

She was married to Joe Hope who died in 1959, and later to Onice “Red” Hill, deceased in 2013.

She will be sadly missed by all. Services will be at Brown’s Funeral Home on Sunday, Sept. 30, at 11 a.m.
