A Bogalusa man was arrested Thursday in connection with a recent burglary at an area business, according to Chief Deputy Mike Haley of the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Haley said that the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division arrested Scott Anthony Shubert, 35, a resident of Avenue L in Bogalusa. Shubert was transported to the Washington Parish Jail and charged with burglary of a business, burglary of a vehicle, theft and criminal damage to property. As of Friday morning, he remained in the Washington Parish Jail, and no bond had been set.

The arrest came within 12 hours of the crime being reported to the WPSO, Haley said. A review of surveillance video at an area business reportedly revealed Shubert selling some of the stolen property. Shubert was quickly located and most of the stolen property was recovered, Haley said.

Haley said that records indicate Shubert has been in the Washington Parish Jail on one previous occasion. He was arrested on Nov. 2, 2017, when he was charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting an officer. He stayed in jail for two days before being released on a $5,750 bond.

“Great work by our detectives,” Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal said. “Another thief behind bars is always a good thing for the honest citizens of Washington Parish. If any citizen has purchased property from Scott Schubert, they are asked to contact Detective Kody Glenn at 985-839-3434, extension 2054.”
