On Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., the Washington Republican Parish Executive Committee (WRPEC) will conduct a commemoration ceremony to honor Louisiana victims of Sept. 11, 2001. First responders will also be remembered for their heroics and sacrifice.

The ceremony will be conducted at the flagpole in front of the Bogalusa City Hall. There will be prayer, singing, a candle and bell ceremony, and comments from WRPEC members in honor of the victims of that tragic event. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

Many lives were lost in the attack on our nation when terrorists flew hijacked airliners into the Pentagon Office Building in Washington, D.C., and the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers in New York City. Lives were saved by the heroics of so many in Pennsylvania and by first responders in New York.

“We must remember the dead, honor the heroes, and acknowledge the actions of many who gave so much in the aftermath of this horrendous event,” said Phillipp Bedwell, chairman of the WRPEC. “Our nation has never been the same.”

“Never Forget” has been the motto of those who celebrate the lives of those victims of Sept. 11, 2001.
