Dale Ackerman

Dale E. Ackerman passed away peacefully at home on Aug. 27, 2018, at the age of 72.

He was the beloved husband of Marilyn I. Ackerman, with whom he shared 34 years of marriage that was full of love and laughter. He was born on July 23, 1946, in Pontiac, Mich., and was a graduate of Wayne State University in Detroit and had a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada.

He lived in Toronto, Canada for a number of years until he and Marilyn moved to New Orleans in 1987, where he began working at JoEllen Smith Psychiatric Hospital as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

After moving to Poplarville, Miss., in 1993, where he and Marilyn created a tree farm, he continued his private practice in Bogalusa at Pinewood Therapeutic Counseling Clinic.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Ackerman; a step-daughter, Meg Sipos (Larry) of Stoney Creek, Ontario; and two step-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Anyssa.

A Celebration of his Life will be planned at a future date.
