Joe Pigott

Joe Lewis Pigott was born Aug. 15, 1940, in Franklinton, to the late Henry and Eulice Butler Pigott. He departed this life on Aug. 2, 2018, at Pam Specialty Hospital of Covington.
He joined the Water Valley C.O.G.I.C. at an early age. He was the superintendent of Sunday School and played the drum.
Joe Pigott graduated from Washington Parish High School in May 1959, then enlisted in the U.S. Army.
He was united in holy matrimony to Janice Peters in 1966. To this union one son was born, Henry A. Pigott.
Joe L. Pigott was a very proficient husband and father. He always gave of himself and believed in sharing.
He was a member of Wisdom Lodge 123, Knights of Columbus, Coney Flower Post American Legion, and President of Club Tomorrow. He worked and retired from the Bogalusa Paper Mill.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of 52 years, Janice P. Pigott of Bogalusa; one son, Henry Anthony Pigott of Bogalusa; one god-daughter, Judonya “Cookie” Morr; one sister, Vander Marie Jordan of Franklinton; sisters-in-law, Rose Martin Pigott, Barbara R. Williams, Shirley Peters, and Rose Rayford; and a special nephew and niece, Henry “Man” Rayford and Delores P. Walker.
Joe L. Pigott was preceded in death by his father, Henry Pigott; mother, Eulice Pigott; brother, Henry (Willie) Pigott; sister, Ora Dee Bickham; brothers-in-law, Albert J. Peters, Alvin Bickham and Phillip Jordan; and sister-in-law, Annie Rose Smith.
Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 10, beginning at 2 p.m. until 6 p.m., with a family hour from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Cook-Richmond Funeral Home chapel. The funeral service will be Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Interment will be in the Bogalusa Cemetery.
