Walter “Joe” Fournet Sr., a native and lifelong resident of Bogalusa, passed away Saturday morning, July 28, 2018, at his residence in Sun, at the age of 80. He served in the Army National Guard in Bogalusa.

He is survived by his son, Walter (Sandra) Fournet Jr. of Sun; daughters, Alison (Jimmy) Wilson of Bogalusa, and Jill (Kenny) Kelehan of Diamondhead, Miss.; brothers, Jimmy, Jerry, Jeff and John Earl Fournet; and sister, Jane Varnado. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeff and Jessie Fournet; and sister, Judy Jenkins.

A visitation was held in the chapel of Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 31, from 11 a.m., until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Kelly Penton officiating. Interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Bogalusa. Magic City American Legion Post #24 will present military honors.
