Vaiden Barlow

Vaiden Cliburn Barlow, 88, passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Timeless Grace Assisted Living facility in Henleyfield, Miss. She was born on Oct. 7, 1929, to H.C. and Maude Cliburn in Simpson County, Miss. She was a resident of Bogalusa since 1951.

Mrs. Barlow was a dedicated member of Superior Avenue Baptist Church, where she served in many ways. She was very active in many civic activities. Some of them were the Washington Parish Fair Association, Civic League, Christmas in the Park, and Bogalusa Garden Clubs. She was honored to be selected as Bogalusa Citizen of the Year in 2008.

She is survived by two daughters, Judy (Weldon) Smith of Pelahatchie, Miss., and Pam (Phillipp) Bedwell of Bogalusa; five grandchildren, Robert Bedwell, Kristy Ellingburg, Sarah Black, Kimberly Allen, and Nathan Smith; 11 great-grandchildren, Noah, Ethan and Aiden Ellingburg, Lane, Trent and Lillie Ann Black, Connor, Anna Grace and Charity Bedwell, and Olivia and Collin Smith; and two sisters, Emily Thompson and Myrtle Lee Means.

She is preceded in death by her parents, H.C. and Maude Cliburn; her husband, R. T. Barlow; a brother, Edward Cliburn; and two sisters, Gertie McNaughton and Brenda Russell.

Visitation was at Superior Avenue Baptist Church on Sunday, July 22, starting at 1 p.m. until the funeral service at 3 p.m. The Rev. Clay Norwood officiated and interment followed at the Garden of Peace in Ponemah Cemetery.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Timeless Grace Assisted Living and Hospice Compassus for their loving care.
