Classmates meet for lunch

On June 6, several long-time friends got together for an annual lunch. What is unusual about that, you may ask? Well, these ladies graduated from Bogalusa High School in 1950. Yes, 68 years ago.

After starting out with a dozen or so some years back, their group has lost quite a few, sad to say. They have enjoyed their meetings in Boglausa, Amite, Hammond and Baton Rouge. That takes planning.

This year Ann (Henkle) Haymon hosted the group, assisted by her daughter, Fran Heaton, at her beautiful residence at Christwood in Covington where she recently re-located from Baton Rouge. Attending also were Amagene (Alford) Mobley from Amite, Nella Rose (Byrd) Guilbeau and Dorothy (McGehee) Miller from Baton Rouge, and Lydia (Lee) Fendlason and her niece, Robin Simmons, from Bogalusa. Also joining them was Vermell (Allen) Guillott, also a resident of Covington.

Ann’s grandchildren, Annie Heaton, and Hunter and Houston Heaton, also came by to meet and visit with their grandmother’s friends.

Lunch was served in the beautiful atrium dining room at Christwood. Visiting and reminiscing before and after lunch was enjoyed. It was sometimes amusing to the younger attendees, hearing stories of the antics of being a teen in the 1940s.

A great time was had by all and plans for next year are already being made.
