A Mississippi woman was cited for a violation Wednesday, after overturning an 18-wheeler near Franklinton.

Trooper Dustin Dwight of the Louisiana State Police said that troopers responded at 10:40 a.m. Wednesday to a single-vehicle crash involving an 18-wheeler on Louisiana Highway 10 near its intersection with Louisiana Highway 16 west of Franklinton.

Dwight said the driver was identified as 44-year-old Daisy Smith of Jackson, Miss. The investigation showed she was eastbound on Highway 10, when her vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway, Dwight said.

Smith apparently steered to the left and her vehicle crashed into the ditch on the westbound side of the roadway, Dwight said. The vehicle then overturned across both lanes of Highway 10.

Dwight said that Smith sustained minor injury in the crash, and was cited for careless operation.
