WPSO: Thief strikes Angie fire station

The Washington Parish Fire District located in Angie was recently burglarized by a thief who stole a large amount of diesel fuel, according to Chief Deputy Mike Haley of the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Although the fire station had outside cameras, it was discovered that someone had removed the memory cards, resulting in no video evidence, Haley said.

This was the second theft from this Fire District. Within the past few months, batteries were stolen from one of the fire trucks.

Haley said that the Fire District is offering a $500 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the thief or thieves.

Any person with information about either of these thefts is asked to contact Detective Lt. Tom Anderson at 985-839-3434, ext. 2059. The tipster may remain anonymous if he or she prefers to do so.

“Help us solve these thefts,” Sheriff Randy Seal said. “Our Fire Districts throughout the parish provide a valuable service to all citizens and it is inconceivable that anyone would steal resources that might hamper their ability to respond to a fire or other tragedy. The thief needs to be identified and brought to justice.”
