James T. Creel

James T. Creel, 92, passed away on May 16, 2018, at his residence. He was a lifetime resident of Bogalusa.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1944-1945. He was in the Battle of the Bulge in World War II. He was with company 838 gasoline supply, 178th engine Company B, 1001 Forestry Battalion. He was awarded three Battle Stars. He worked as a millwright at the Bogalusa Paper Mill and was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church all 92 years of his life. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and began his work for the Lord. He also served as deacon for 52 years.
He is survived by his wife, Colleen Creel; one son, Randy Creel and wife Cindy; three other sons, Steve and wife Tracy Mathews, Daniel and wife Gretchen Mathews, Michael Mathews; grandchildren, Colten Creel and wife Catlin Creel, Jay Miller and wife Chelsea Miller, Danielle Simmons, Aerial Mathews, Caleb Mathews, Noah Mathews, Luke Mathews, Isaac Mathews, Grace Mathews; and great-grandchildren, Peyton Simmons, Elias Miller and Alaina Miller.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Norvel and Margaret Creel; his first wife, Mary Creel and two children; brothers Archie Creel, Leo Creel, and Aubrey Creel.
Visitation was held on Friday, May 18, at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and will continue on Saturday, May 19, from 10 a.m. until time for the service at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Ponemah Cemetery. The Rev. Robert Touchtone will officiate.
