Alice Jefferson

Alice R. “Dimple” Jefferson was born on Nov. 28, 1935, to the late Albert Cooper and Irene Watterson of Bogalusa, and departed this life on May 3, 2018, at Our Lady of the Angels Hospital.

She graduated from Central Memorial High School in Bogalusa. She married the late Lucious Jefferson Sr. and moved to New Orleans, and became members of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. She worked with the Orleans Parish School Board for 20 years and retired.

Alice is the mother of Lucious Jr., Angela, Sharon, Reginald (Pam), Steven (Tramaine); and step-mother-in-law of Alma Moses. She is the grandmother of Tiffany, Shenee (Chris), Lil Steve, Cody, Erica, Taylor, Tyree, Megan, Jeremy, Terrance, Hallé, Jeremy and Zachary; and the great-grandmother of Cameron, Chris, Carter, Malek, Kevin and Kassydi. She is the godmother of Lisa Jefferson and Aleice Williams.

She leaves to cherish a devoted sister, Janice; and brother, Pete; and also nephew Jason and niece Jeanette; great-nephews Graham, Xavier, Christian, Corey, Chloe and Olander. Alice leaves to mourn six beautiful brothers-in-law, Marshall Jefferson, Freddie Jefferson, Cleveland Jefferson (Myrt), Clarence Jefferson (Clarissa), Marvin Jefferson (Athrin) and Julius Jefferson (Carol); three special sisters-in-law, Joanie Jefferson, Marguerite Jefferson and Esther Jefferson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Betty; brother, James; and step-son, Ray Daniel Moses.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 9, at the chapel of Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m.

The funeral service will be Thursday, May 10, at Wesley Ray United Methodist Church in Angie at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Terrance August, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Cemetery in Angie.
