Ruth Jefferson

Ruth Lee (Morgan) Jefferson departed this life on April 18, 2018, in Atlanta, Ga.

Ruth was a loving, faithful and humble servant in the body of Christ. She served as a Missionary, Pastor’s wife, an Usher, President of the Pastor’s Aide, member of the Progressive District, Angelic Choirs and worked as a Women’s Sunday School Teacher. Ruth worked tirelessly to contribute to the spiritual and financial needs of the church.

Ruth was the eldest of 11 children. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thadis L. Morgan Sr. and Beatrice Morgan; her husband, Rev. Dr. Robert Earl Jefferson Sr.; and her brother, Robert Morgan.

She leaves to cherish her memories her son, Robert E. Jefferson Jr. (Renee); daughter, Kelly A. Jefferson of Georgia; grandson, Jesiah R. Jefferson Sr., great-grandson, Jesiah R. Jefferson Jr. of Massachusetts; sisters, Hazel Viamill of Kansas, Mary Morgan, Carolyn Brown, and Catherine Morgan of Georgia, Joycelyn Johnson (Larry) of Texas; brothers, Thadis Morgan Jr. and James Morgan of Georgia, John Morgan (Andrea) of Massachusetts, Walter David Morgan of Louisiana; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be on Friday, April 26, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Crain and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Bogalusa.

Funeral service will be Saturday, April 28, at 11 a.m. at First Church of God in Christ with Bishop Howard E. Quillen Jr., pastor. Interment will be in the Bogalusa Cemetery.
