George Jenkins

George W. Jenkins, 82, a resident of Franklinton, died Thursday afternoon, April 19, 2018, at his home.

He was a member of Lawrence Creek Missionary Baptist Church and a successful dairyman for over 35 years. George was a member of the Louisiana Cattleman’s Association and often traveled to meetings and events. He loved hunting and fishing and spending time at his camp on the Bogue Chitto River. George had a great sense of humor and he liked playing tricks and joking with his family, whom he loved dearly.

He is survived by: wife of 58 years, Luvenia Crain Jenkins of Franklinton; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Joanna Jenkins of Franklinton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Gayle Jenkins Billey and Duane Billey of Franklinton, Lisa and Darryl Guillory of Liberty, Miss., and Jill and John Cooper of Franklinton; 10 grandchildren, Jonna Jenkins, Rachel Jenkins, David “Hammer” Jenkins, Lee Risner, Jeremy Corkern, Chevis Corkern and fiancé Summer Knight, Candace and Chris Hardy, Shea Blackwell and Amanda Sammons, Drake Cooper, and Angel Cooper; seven great-grandchildren, Jonah Hazelwood, Ashlyn Corkern, Riley Corkern, Christopher Hardy, Hunter Hardy, Justin Hardy and Paisley Fullerton; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Jamee Jenkins, Everett Jenkins of Franklinton, and Victor and Claudia Jenkins of Covington; and also numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis Jenkins and Sweetie Magee Jenkins; and a brother, Vernon Jenkins.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home on Monday, April 23, from 10 a.m. until noon. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at noon Monday with Eld. Duane Ball and Eld. James McCraney officiating. Burial will follow in the Magee Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Landers Spears, Steven Schillings, Scott Magee, Johnny Tarver, Bobby Whaley and Jessie Knight. Honorary pallbearers will be Larue Martin, Charles Brumfield, Alton Bankston and Roy Magee.
