Horace Davis Sr.

Horace John Davis Sr. died March 28, 2018, at Ochsner Baptist in New Orleans at 3:41 a.m.
He was born Aug. 26, 1944, to the late Ms. Bessie Lee Curry and the late D.J. Davis. He was a retired construction worker.
Horace “Pop” Davis was reared in Bogalusa. He attended Central Memorial School System, where he participated as a drum major in the marching band and other school affiliated activities, he had a passion for outdoor activities including fishing and hunting with family and friends.
Horace later moved his residence to New Orleans, and he was dedicated to family and friends. Horace was a provider and also cared for others. Horace enjoyed life and was full of fun and laughter and he will very much be missed.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his second wife, Joy Davis of New Orleans; son, Horace Davis Jr. of Texas; daughter, Dietrich J Davis of Inglewood, Calif.; two stepchildren, Ahyshia Davis and Herman Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by mother, Bessie Lee Curry; father, D.J. Davis; grandmother, Mama Tisha; siblings, Freddie C., Charles Ray, Gloria Cowart, Catherine Smith and Annie Lee Davis; sister-in-law, Alberta Cowart; and ex-wife Lolita Davis.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 7, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. for viewing and 11 a.m. to noon for the funeral service and Providence Cemetery will be the resting place on Airline Highway.
