A Bogalusa man was arrested Friday, after taking officers on a car chase and then foot chase, according to Maj. Percy Knight of the Bogalusa Police Department.

“On Friday, March 23, at 9:23 p.m., officers from the Bogalusa Police Department observed a vehicle traveling on Dan Street without a license plate,” said Knight, the public information officer for the BPD. “BPD officers got behind the vehicle and turned on the emergency blue lights in attempt to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to stop and proceeded to flee from the officers.”

Knight said that the driver went several blocks as he attempted to flee, and then “exited the vehicle while it was still in motion,” at the intersection of Grove and South Royal Street. The vehicle rolled approximately two blocks before striking a chain-link fence and came to a stop, Knight said.

Knight said that the driver ran approximately 150 yards, before he was apprehended by the BPD officers. The driver was identified as Ondrej J. Bickham, 23, of Bogalusa.

Bickham was placed under arrest and transported to the Bogalusa City Jail, where he was booked on the charges of vehicle license required, driving while license is suspended, no insurance, failure to secure/carry registration, flight from an officer, reckless operation of a vehicle, three counts of stop sign-must stop, four counts of turning signal required, general speed law, improper lane usage, and seat belt use.
