FHS students excel at Beta

More than 50 Beta Club members from Franklinton High School traveled to Baton Rouge in early February to compete in various competitions. FHS Beta Club was successful in attaining multiple awards.
Destiny Richardson placed third in the state in On-site Pencil Art. Laura Thomas placed second in the state in Visual Arts, Drawing category. The Banner Team consisting of Destiny Richardson, Karrington Bickham, and Hannah Grace Henn placed second in the state.
The Spotlight on Service board created and presented by Kaylee Turner placed first in the state. Group Talent finished in the Top 8. This team consisted of Kaylee Turner, Selena Spears, Katherine Haik, Presley Self, Joley Lavigne, Yvone Tran, and Eliziah Riley. Each of these girls were given the title of “Premier Performers” and asked to dance in the opening ceremonies at the National Beta Convention this summer.
Beta’s Show Choir Team placed first in state, making them back-to-back two-time state champions. This team consisted of Jaqwan Brumfield, Mary Gatlin, Megan Gatlin, Jenia Miller, Cole Persick, Jewel Vincent, Austin Heno, Victoria Trejo, Anna Papiska, Brianna Nesbitt, Caitlin Ashley, Timius Brock, Kaitlyn Woodward and Ashton Bahm.
All of these students are qualified to travel to the national competition in Savannah, Ga., this summer.
