Doug Fitzgerald

Doug Fitzgerald passed away Saturday morning at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was a very honorable, humble, and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and he loved his animals. He was a veteran, serving with the U.S. Air Force.

He is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 38 years, Clarice L. Fitzgerald, who has been lovingly by his side taking care of him for the last 17 years; his four sons, Arthur Douglas Fitzgerald Jr. of New Jersey, Dean (Denise) Fitzgerald of Franklinton, John Ike Fitzgerald of California, and Joshua S. Perry of Varnado; three daughters, Kristie Lynn Fitzgerald (Donald) Hall of Shalimar, Fla., Kebbie J. (Kenneth) Rosenberg of Tampa, Fla., and Carley James of New York, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Jacob Fitzgerald of California, Dean Fitzgerald Jr. of Franklinton, Devan Hall of Tennessee, Hannah Hall of Florida, Sadie S. Perry of Liverpool, N.Y., and Lilly Elizabeth Lang Rosenberg of Tampa; one sister, Mary Lee Burke of Athens, Ga.; and one brother, Hugh James Fitzgerald of Folsom. He was also survived by numerous friends and other relatives.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Grace Fitzgerald; a son, Kevin Paul Fitzgerald; one brother, Dr. Joel Fitzgerald; and three grandchildren, “the Brody triplets,” Max, Olivia, and Avery Brody.

Special thanks go to Camelia Hospice, Jennifer, Brandy, Misty, and Melissa. They were very diligent and dedicated caregivers.

A very special shout out goes to the members, pastor, and sisters in Christ at Varnado United Methodist Church.

Visitation and services were on Tuesday, March 13, at Varnado United Methodist Church in Varnado, starting at 1 p.m. and continuing until the time of the service at 2 p.m. Rev. Kathy Abrams Pfeider officiated.
