A Washington Parish teenager was recently arrested for robbing a pizza delivery person, and deputies are still looking for two other suspects in the same incident.

According to Chief Deputy Mike Haley of the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office, a pizza delivery person was delivering a pizza on Wednesday, March 7, to an address on Harvey Road north of Franklinton.

The pizza driver was flagged down by three individuals whose faces were covered, Haley said. Two males approached the car and wanted to pay for the pizza with a $100 bill, which is believed to have been counterfeit. Haley said that the driver advised that delivery persons don’t carry that much money to make change, and at that time the two men produced pistols. One man took the driver’s cell phone and the other took the pizza, Haley said.

It is believed the men intended to pay for the pizza with a counterfeit $100 bill, then take the change and the pizza before fleeing, Haley said. They then switched tactics and committed armed robbery of the driver.

Haley said that deputies and detectives rushed to the scene and began an immediate investigation, which led to the identification of one of the robbers.

Rondrick Johnson King, 17, a resident of Harvey Road, was arrested and placed in the Washington Parish Jail, where he is being held on a charge of armed robbery with his bond set at $100,000.

The two other suspects are still at large and the investigation continues, Haley said. Additional arrests are expected.

“Mr. King is starting out young with his criminal activity and I hope this arrest will serve as a wake-up call for him to do some serious soul searching and take whatever steps are necessary to turn his life around,” Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal said. “It is always a dangerous situation when a firearm is involved in the commission of a crime and I am so grateful that the pizza delivery driver was not harmed. Many thanks to our fine officers who made a quick arrest in this matter.”
