‘Spring ahead’ Sunday

Daylight Saving Time begins Sunday, March 11, at 2 a.m. Remember to set your clocks ahead one hour before going to bed Saturday night.

In the United States, “Fast Time” as it was called then, was first introduced in 1918 when President Woodrow Wilson signed it into law to support the war effort during World War I.

Only seven months later, it was repealed. President Franklin Roosevelt re-instated it for good in 1942.

Public safety officials also note the start of Daylight Saving Time is a good time of year to check batteries in smoke detectors.
