Earlyne Crawford

Earlyne M.S. Crawford, 89, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018, at her residence in Bogalusa.

Earlyne was born in Bogalusa to James and Mabel (Williams) Sellers on July 16, 1928. She went to Central Memorial High School and graduated as valedictorian in 1946, and subsequently attended Tuskegee University where she studied Institutional Food Service Management; she also served in the U.S. Army as a Private First Class.

Earlyne enjoyed fishing, reading, playing Scrabble, traveling and spending time with her family. Those who knew her well “knew better” than to interrupt her favorite TV show, Jeopardy!

She is survived by six children, Yolanda Hayes (Everett) of Ecuador, Charles Crawford of Bogalusa, Lois Taylor (Kenneth) of Bogalusa, Clarence Crawford (Emma) of Newburyport, Mass., Keely Crawford of Hiram, Ga., and Indira Howard (Edward) of Stone Mountain, Ga.; 15 grandchildren, Manita Hayes, Everett Hayes, Carlette Hayes, Charles Crawford, David Crawford, Kenneth Taylor Jr., Jude Taylor, Annaleis Mark, Chareena Crawford, Brandon Crawford, Nykea Williams, Alex Williams, Zaria Pounds, Issac Pounds and Amia Cook; three sisters, Vida Sjogren, Lynda Sellers and Leatrice Sellers; three brothers, Avon Sellers, Austin Sellers and Frank Sellers; as well as a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other dear relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mabel (Williams) Sellers; two brothers, Andrew Sellers and Monet Sellers; and a sister, Kaye Wilkerson.

A memorial service/celebration of life for family and friends will be held at Crain and Sons Funeral Home, 809 E. Third St. in Bogalusa, on Saturday, March 10, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mike Price of Church of Christ officiating. Repast will immediately follow.
