“For God so loved the world, he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish, but have eternal life” John 3:16.

Maxine Kellar, born Oct. 20, 1942, left this world for heaven on March 1, 2018, at the age of 76. She was a dedicated wife and mother and loved her family. Maxine also was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.

She leaves behind her loving husband and friend of 62 years, Hayward Gordon Kellar Sr.; her children, Onita Pierce and her husband Jeff, Jaunita Watts and her husband Wilson, Gordon Kellar Jr. and his wife Carol and Mark Kellar and his wife Mignon; 10 grandchildren, Ashely Shuck and her husband Brent, Morgan E. Pierce, Nicole D. Pierce, Joseph D. Tullos, Joshua C. Kellar, Austin J. Tullos, Haley Robbins and her husband Bailey, Ethan J. Pierce, Jonah Burnside and Noah Burnside; three great-grandchildren, Serenity R. Tullos, Bryton H. Shuck and Miles D. Shuck; a sister, Annie Jones; a brother, Lee Hampton Crosby; and also numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death and will meet in heaven: her parents, Pink and Onita Crosby; her brother, J.P. Crosby; and sisters, Betty Jean Saucier and Elaine Whitaker.

Her children ask that you fondly remember their mom with the love and strength that she shared with so many others. She was definitely a walking miracle and testimony that Jesus can do all things.

Visitation was held on Sunday, March 4, at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home beginning at 1 p.m. until the service time at 3 p.m. The Rev. Larry Lassley officiated the services. The interment followed in the Ponemah Cemetery.
