Lazette Brumfield

Lazette Thomas Brumfield, 73, a resident of the Stateline community, died Saturday morning Feb. 24, 2018, at her home. She was a member of Forest Haven Missionary Baptist Church, where she was recently honored for over 32 years of dedication to the Lord’s work as a Sunday school and Bible class teacher.

She enjoyed gardening and working on the farm. Alongside her family, Lazette worked in their well-known pecan business for many years. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time in God’s beautiful nature. Lazette adored her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished the time spent with her family.

“Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.” (James 1:27).

She is survived by: her mother, Earline Martin Thomas of Thomas; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Clark Lowery of Laurel, Miss., Malinda and Danny White of Bogalusa, and Lamanda and Scott Taylor of Hackley; two sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Tammy Brumfield, and Brent and Benji Brumfield, all of Stateline; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Jane and Joseph Stogner of Sandy Hook, Miss., and Sharon and John Hartzog of Bogalusa; brother, Raymond “Archie” Thomas of Thomas; sisters-in-law, Linda Graves Thomas of Thomas, Elsie Brumfield Crain of Bogalusa, Lynn Blossman of Covington, Evelyn Young Brumfield Branch of Bogalusa, Yvonne Wheat Brumfield and Ann Smith Brumfield, both of Angie, and Evelyn Crain Brumfield of Bogalusa; brothers-in-law, Paul “Buddy” Brumfield and William Brumfield, both of Angie; and also numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Brumfield; father, Archie Thomas; brothers, Richard Lloyd Thomas and Walter Thurman Thomas; sister-in-law, Genell Brumfield; and brothers-in-law, Bobby Brumfield and Chris Brumfield.

Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home on Monday, Feb. 26, from 5:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. Visitation continued Tuesday, Feb. 27, at Forest Haven Missionary Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday with Eld. Richard Magee, Eld. Clyde Cooper, Eld. Yancy Magee, Eld. Glynn Erwin and Eld. Lavon Taylor officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Parker White, Travis Taylor, Jake Taylor, John William Hartzog, Jeremy Lee and Ryan Hickman. Honorary pallbearers were Trevor Brumfield and Zachary Lowery, both currently serving in the U.S. Air Force.
