James Stewart was born Feb. 22, 1940, in Tylertown, Miss. He passed away Feb. 18, 2018, peacefully at his residence in Westwego.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his daughter, Vanessa (Alvin) Hughes; four grandchildren, Shiquetta Hughes of Hammond, Alvin (Tiffany) Hughes Jr., Ladarious Fland and Nykiera Anderson, all of Bogalusa; two great grandchildren, Zamir Harry of Addis, and Alvin Hughes III of Bogalusa; his mother, Patricia Magee of New Orleans; seven sisters, Sally Magee, Evelyn Singleton, Dennis Ringstaff, Jean Hillard, Sherry McCraney, Lynette Roberts, and Winnie Roberts, all of New Orleans; two brothers, Donna Magee of Texas and Ronald Magee of New Orleans; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the chapel of Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa, followed by a funeral service at 3 p.m.
