ATF offers reward for fire info

The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is seeking information leading to the arrest and conviction of the people responsible for the Feb. 1, 2018, arson that occurred at the Monroe Creek Missionary Baptist Church, located on Monroe Creek Road north of Highway 436 in Washington Parish.

The fire resulted in a total loss of the property.

Additionally, on Jan. 25 and Feb. 1, a series of wildfires were set in close proximity to the church, ATF officials said. ATF, along with the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry, and the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office, are actively investigating these fires.

Investigators are seeking the public’s help in solving these crimes, and a reward of up to $5,000 is being offered. Anyone with any information about these fires should call ATF at 1-888-ATF-FIRE (283-3473).

All individuals providing tips can remain anonymous.
