Melinda Varnado Smith, 60, a resident of Bogalusa, passed away on Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, at Our Lady of the Angels Hospital in Bogalusa.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Smith of Bogalusa; a son, Kevin Smith (Jessica) of Bogalusa; a twin sister, Matilda Varnado of Bogalusa, and a sister, Lynn Cutrer of Bogalusa; grandchildren, Payton Smith and McKayla Smith.

She is preceded in death by a son, Joey Lavon Smith; her parents, Carl Wallace Varnado and Rosemary Borde Varnado; and a brother, Rodney Carl Varnado.

Visitation will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Monday, Feb. 5, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Chad Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow at Ponemah Cemetery.
