Calvin Joseph Dubois, 28, a resident of Hillview Drive in Poplarville, is in the Washington Parish Jail for theft from a flea market located on Louisiana Highway 21 south of Bogalusa, according to Chief Deputy Mike Haley of the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Haley said that the owner of the flea market reported the theft Wednesday, and provided WPSO detectives with video of the suspected thief as he wandered through the business establishment. A photo of the suspect was lifted from the video and distributed to Washington Parish officers.

The next morning, Washington Parish detective Kody Glenn was exiting his Bogalusa dentist’s office when he spotted Dubois at a stop sign, Haley said. He quickly apprehended Dubois and placed him in the Washington Parish Jail. At this time, Dubois remains in jail with no bond set.

“This is a case of Dubois being in the wrong place at the right time,” Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal said. “It was the wrong place for him and the right place for the business owner and the Sheriff’s Office. I congratulate Detective Glenn for being alert and bringing this investigation to a quick conclusion.

“This is another example of the importance of business owners having a video surveillance system.”
