Bernestine Jenkins

Bernestine Jenkins, wife of the late Eugene Jenkins, passed into the arms of her Savior on Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, at the age of 83.

She was born the youngest of 15 children to Anderson (Lump) and Daisy Mae Wilson (Smith) on July 13, 1934. Bernestine, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, sister and friend was a longtime resident of Franklinton.

She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter, Patricia Jenkins; brothers, Robert Earl Wilson, J.C. Wilson, T.C. Wilson, Houston Wilson, and Willie Hart; sisters, Lillie Mae Butler, Anita Sampson, Ella Mae Toomer, Lola Mae Warren, Ola Mae Burkhalter, Alean (Eddie) Conerly and Alice Wilson; one grandchild; and one great-great grandchild.

She leaves memories to cherish with her son, Raymond of Franklinton; daughter, Melinda of Byram, Miss.; sister-in-law, Sarah Anthony; sister-in-law, Johnny Ruth; sister-in-law, Mildred Jenkins; Jerlean Jenkins; brother-in-law, Bruce Jenkins; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; two unborn and one god-daughter.

Family and friends are welcome to attend the celebration of Bernestine’s life on Saturday, Jan. 27, at Greater Hayes Creek Missionary Baptist Church, located at 31499 Hayes Creek Road in Franklinton.
