The Slidell Police Department is searching for a Franklinton man, who is suspected of stealing a fire truck in St. Tammany Parish.

On the afternoon of Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017, a Slidell fireman reported that someone stole his truck while he was responding to a call for service, according to information from the SPD.

The fireman stated that his pickup truck, which was parked outside of Station 13 of St. Tammany Fire District No. 1, was stolen while he and his fellow firemen were out for a call for service. The incident is believed to have happened between 12:50 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.

The truck was described as a 2006 white Ford F-250, FX4 with black running boards and chrome exhaust pipes. The truck also had a unique professional firefighter’s license plate with the tag number #3247.

After a lengthy investigation, the SPD announced Monday that they had identified the suspect as Zarius Brown, 30, of Franklinton. Brown is currently wanted for theft of a motor vehicle.

SPD officials said that Brown was reportedly selling parts of the stolen truck on social media sites. Digital forensic evidence was also able to positively link Brown to the theft.

Unfortunately, the truck has never been recovered, and it is believed to have been broken down into several different parts and pieces, SPD officials said.

Anyone with information about Brown’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Slidell Police Department at 985-646-6174, or call any local law enforcement agency. Brown is known to frequent the Hammond and Franklinton area.
