The Washington Parish Republican Women recently held their election of officers for the 2018 year. Officers were sworn in at the January meeting.

The meeting began with a video of Kate Smith introducing a new song for the very first time, “God Bless America,” as it was heard in 1940 over the radio.

The 2018 officers swore to live up to the provisions of the governing laws of the National, the Louisiana, and the Washington Parish Republican Women, and to discharge all duties incumbent to the office to the best of their ability.

After the installation of officers, the speaker, Linda Vinsanau, Louisiana Federation of Republican Women Special Committee Chair for Republican Teens, shared information on Teenage Republicans.

The LA GOP Elephant Gala was also discussed. The event will be held this Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. In addition, members were reminded that “The Wall That Heals” — a traveling exhibition of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial — will be coming to Franklinton in November.
