St. Tammany Hospital Foundation Healing Arts Initiative seeks submissions of original artwork for the spring 2018 rotating galleries at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. Applications are due Jan. 14.
“These exhibits have become synonymous with our Healing Arts program. We have found it to be a very special way to promote a healing environment while growing our relationship with the local artist community and securing new works of art for the Foundation’s permanent collection,” said Nicole Suhre, executive director of the St. Tammany Hospital Foundation. “We are especially excited this year about featuring the art of U.S. Veterans. We believe their powerful work will add to our goal of improving the patient experience through the arts.”
Applications for the rotating gallery, which takes place from Feb. 20 to April 9, are due by Jan. 14. The Healing Arts Initiative requests artwork that creates a peaceful, restorative and healing atmosphere. The artwork presented in the galleries must complement the healing process, reduce stress and provide a pleasant distraction to all who encounter it.  New this year, the committee is inviting U.S. veterans to also submit applications for artwork for a dedicated veterans art display in the exhibit.
Healing arts galleries will be located on the first floor Education hallway off the main lobby, gift shop hallway and 3-North Bridge on the third floor. The exhibit will kick off with an artist reception on Feb 21, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the main lobby of St. Tammany Parish Hospital.
