Marilyn Mizell

Marilyn Joann Mizell, 86, a resident of the Isabel community, died Thursday morning, Jan. 4, 2018, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital.

She was a member of Isabel Baptist Church that was also the co-owner of Mizell Grocery and she even operated her own beauty shop for many years. Joann loved working in her vegetable and flower gardens and riding on her lawnmower. She enjoyed fishing and the more relaxing hobbies of crocheting and quilting. Joann liked to watch sports such as football and baseball but her favorite hobby was spending time with her beloved family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by: two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda and Chess Richardson of Isabel, and Jeanette Mizell of Picayune, Miss.; two grandchildren and a spouse, Jason Richardson of Bogalusa, and Missy and Shane Graham of Isabel; three grandchildren, Katelyn Graham, Brody Graham and Evan Graham; sister-in-law, Martha Mizell of Franklinton; and also numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dorman Mizell; son, Rydell Mizell; infant son, Robert Dorman Mizell; parents, Willie E. Mizell and Beatrice Reviere Mizell; and brothers, Buford Mizell and Arlin Mizell.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home on Saturday, Jan. 6, from noon until 2 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. Saturday with Rev. Mike Thomas and Rev. Paul Watts officiating. Burial will follow in the Mizell Cemetery near Isabel.

Pallbearers will be Jason Richardson, Brody Graham, Evan Graham, Shane Graham, Jeremy Hebert, Jory Hebert, Steve Mizell and Wayne Bush.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations to the Isabel Baptist Church Restoration Fund or the First Baptist Church New Sanctuary Fund.
