Carl ‘Sammy’ Lively

Carl “Sammy” Leland Lively, 87, was born on Feb. 6, 1930, and passed away on Dec. 22, 2017, at his residence in Bogalusa.

He is survived by his wife, Wynell Lively of Bogalusa; his children, Brad Lively of Bogalusa, Kathy Lively Danna of Monroe, Denise Lively Megehee of Bogalusa, and Brian (Kim) Lively of Bogalusa; his sister, Jane Toney of Huntsville, Ala.; brothers, Richard Lively of Bogalusa, and Billy Lively, of Zachary; his grandchildren, Heidi Lively Rose, Jonathan Megehee, Stacey (Blake) Baughman, Dustin (Melanie) Lively and Mallory Danna; and great-grandchildren, Brayden Rose, Mason Rose, Brycen Baughman, Savannah Megehee, Bella Megehee, Hudson Megehee, and Danyan Lively.

Mr. Lively was preceded in death by his parents, Claude L. Lively and Velma Hartzog Lively; his siblings, Leonard Lively, Popsy Lively, Betty Jean Markey, Elwood Lively, Edith Hayman and Bessie Craig; two grandchildren, Eric Mann and Joshua Lively; and a daughter-in-law, Brenda Lively.

Mr. Lively was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a lifetime member of Union Avenue Baptist Church, which is now called Union Heritage Baptist Church. Sammy was retired from the paper mill. He was also loved by, and blessed by, many friends.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Dec. 26, beginning at 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., and will continue Wednesday, Dec. 27, from 9 a.m. until the service time of 2 p.m., all held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home chapel. The Rev. Joe Porter will officiate and interment will be held in Ponemah Cemetery.
