A Bogalusa man was recently arrested for simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, according to Maj. Percy Knight of the Bogalusa Police Department.
Knight, the public information officer for the BPD, said that the arrest occurred shortly after the BPD received a call about a residential alarm activation on Miller Place at 10:12 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 15.
“When the BPD officers arrived, they observed a broken window in the rear
of the residence where someone had entered,” Knight said. “The officers searched the residence but didn’t find anyone inside. The residence was equipped with surveillance cameras, and the officers were able to get video footage of the suspect breaking in.
“In the video footage, a young black male wearing a hoodie is seen knocking on the front door. When the suspect doesn’t make contact with anyone inside, he walks to the rear of the residence and kicks out a window with his foot. The suspect stays inside the residence for approximately four minutes and then runs out the through the rear door.”
Knight said a short time later a person who matched the description of the suspect was observed walking on Long Avenue. The suspect was identified as Samuel White, 18, and he was arrested.
