John Hines Schilling Sr., 82, a resident of Pine, died Thursday morning, Dec. 14, 2017, near his son’s home in Texas.

He was a member of Pine Missionary Baptist Church and a longtime electrician for Industrial Electrical. He was an ordained Baptist minister and a proud numismatist — which means he loved collecting coins and other monetary items. He had an extensive collection of these rare and historical pieces. Schilling Jr. and Brenda Schilling of Magnolia, Texas; three daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren, Terri Gray and her three children of New Caney, Texas, Beth and Curt Plummer and their three sons, and Rebecca and Donald Vickers and their two daughters, all of Ohio; other grandchildren and a spouse, Kali S. Hurst and Dustin Hurst, and Jamie Schilling; great-grandchildren, Jaeger Hurst, Gentry Hurst, Lawson Hurst; brother, Guyvon and Glenda Schilling of Franklinton; sister and brother-in-law, Josie and John Breland of Pine; and also numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore Guy Schilling and Minnie Lou Woodward Schilling; brothers, Theodore “Ted” Schilling Jr., Darrel Schilling, Dwight Schilling, Jim Schilling; sisters, Zettie Scrantz, Pearl Schilling; and an infant sibling.

Visitation will be at Pine Missionary Baptist Church on Wednesday, Dec. 20, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the church at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, with Bro. Lynn Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Schilling Cemetery.
