Ellery Givens

Ellery Givens, 58, a resident of Mt. Hermon, died early Tuesday morning, Dec. 12, 2017, at Tulane Medical Center.

He was a former MRI Specialist for General Electric and also the MRI supervisor at North Oaks Medical Center for many years. Ellery was a member of First Baptist Church of Franklinton, where he was an active member of the Open Door Sunday school class. He was also the owner/operator of Lazee-noll Farm for nearly 15 years after working alongside his family in the dairy business for the previous 15 years. During this time, he loved showing his registered Holsteins at the fair and other events each year. Ellery enjoyed coaching his daughter in her youth softball games and loved watching her games throughout high school. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and the outdoors.

He is survived by: wife of 38 years, Donna D. Givens of Mt. Hermon; daughter, Gabrielle Givens, M.D. of Franklinton; brother, Norman “Buster” Givens of Franklinton; sister, Lorraine Roshto of Mt. Hermon; mother-in-law, Myrt Digirolamo of Luling; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Deena and Glen Rigby of League City, Texas, Darla and Michael LeBlanc of Hahnville; nieces, nephews and their spouses, Allison and Joey Cormier, Adrian and Kal Roshto, Anna Rigby, Ben Rigby, Olivia Rigby, Morgan LeBlanc and Mason LeBlanc.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman “Ivy” Givens and Ruth Louise Alford Givens; a brother-in-law, Richard Roshto; and father-in-law, Nick Digirolamo.

Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home on Thursday, Dec. 14, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and will continue after 9 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 15. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Paul Watts officiating.

Burial will follow in the Mt. Hermon Cemetery.
