Nead Tate Jr. departed his earthly life on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, at 1 p.m.

He was born in Franklinton to the late Audrey Varnado Tate and Nead Tate Sr. He lived in Avondale for about 50 years. He was a truck driver until he retired.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Bickham Tate; two sons, James Edward and Cedric Tate; three brothers, James, Causey and Willie James Tate; and two sisters, Freddie Mae Harvey and Gloria Dean McNeal.

He is survived by four daughters, Hilda Faye, Betty Jo (Tubby), Carolyn and Kathy and a son, Nead Tate III (Mannish); three sisters, Ella Mae Bolton, Myrtle Tate and Pauline Hart; and a host of family, friends and neighbors.

Funeral services will be at Bethel Church of Christ Holiness, located at 25333 Harvey Road in Franklinton, on Saturday, Dec. 2. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. The funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Bethel Church cemetery, followed by a repast.
