This year, Christmas in the Park has added one more thing to entice visitors from far and wide. A live nativity has been scheduled to start at 7:05 p.m. on Dec. 8-10 and 15, and more nights might be added.
The nativity is in addition to more than a million colored fanciful lights in dozens of displays, Santa Claus, Yule Log, and sipping a warm beverage in the cool weather in the park’s wooded outdoors in the magical glow of the lights.
Performances will take place as well. So far, Christmas in the Park has scheduled Varnado First Missionary Baptist Church Choir for Dec. 2 starting at 7 p.m., and the Nathan Hartfield group of five church music directors starting at 7 p.m. on Dec. 23.
Other choirs, dance groups, and individuals with family-friendly pieces that would like to set up a performance at Christmas in the Park should call Curt Hodge at 985-241-2906 or Tammy Hodge at 985-750-1759 to make arrangements.
Christmas in the Park will be celebrated Dec. 1-3, 8-10 and 15-25. Drive through is 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., and walk through is 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. nightly. Admission costs $4 for adults, $1 for students, and $8 per car during the drive through period.
