The office of District Attorney Warren Montgomery announced Wednesday that two Washington Parish men were recently indicted in criminal incidents that led to the death of other citizens.
A Washington Parish grand jury indicted Dakeithan D. Matthews, 22, of Bogalusa, on Tuesday, on the charges of second-degree murder and armed robbery with a firearm.
Matthews is accused of shooting to death Jon Kelly Smith, of Lumberton, Miss., and using the handgun to rob another victim on July 1.
Also indicted was Joshua Cole Stinson, 36, of Franklinton, on a charge of running a stop sign, resulting in the death of another person.
Stinson is accused of failing to stop and yield at a stop sign on July 12, which resulted in the death of Curtis Simmons, of Tylertown, Miss. The accident occurred just north of Franklinton, near the Mississippi line.
