On Monday, Nov. 20, Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested four area residents in connection with a residential burglary that occurred on Highway 60 in Bogalusa. A fifth person was arrested a week later, WPSO Chief Deputy Mike Haley said.

The burglary was interrupted by the homeowner when he arrived at his residence and observed a vehicle backed up to his front door, Haley said. The suspects reportedly quickly drove away and the homeowner followed them for a short distance but then lost sight. He returned home to discover that numerous firearms, jewelry and a large sum of money were allegedly missing.

Jason Todd Grimes is still being sought as a suspect.

Haley said that detectives investigating the burglary observed Dustin Stanley Bailey driving in the area, and made a traffic stop on him. Bailey, who recently had been released from prison, was in possession of some of the stolen cash and made a voluntary admission to the burglary, Haley said.

The continued investigation led to the identification of five other persons involved in the burglary and events following the burglary. Four of them have been arrested and the fifth is being sought. Numerous stolen items were recovered, including $14,000 cash.

Bailey, 35, a resident of Highway 60 in Bogalusa, remains in the Washington Parish Jail with his bond set at $175,000. He is charged with burglary of an inhabited dwelling, theft of six firearms, theft of more than $25,000, and criminal conspiracy to burglary of an inhabited dwelling.

Bailey has a long criminal history and has been in the Washington Parish Jail 12 times since 2006 on charges including drug offenses, theft, and failure to appear in court, Haley said.

Chelsie Lynn Bourne, 25, a resident of Sticker Road in Bush, remains in jail with her bond set at $10,000. She is charged with being an accessory after the fact. Bourne was previously jailed for three months earlier in 2017 for second offense driving while intoxicated.

Joshua C. Grimes, 32, a resident of Bankston Drive in Bogalusa, remains in jail with his bond set at $16,500. He is charged with possession of Schedule III drugs, two counts of possession of controlled dangerous substances with a weapon present and two counts of contempt of court.

Stacey Todd Grimes, 48, a resident of Bankston Drive in Bogalusa, remains in jail with his bond set at $10,000. He is charged with obstruction of justice and being an accessory after the fact. Knowing that his son was involved in the burglary, Stacey Todd Grimes drove his son, identified as Jason Todd Grimes, 24, to Mississippi to avoid arrest, Haley said.

Jason Todd Grimes is being sought as a fugitive. Any person who knows his location is asked to call Detective Kody Glenn as 985-839-3434. A reward is offered for information leading to the arrest of Jason Todd Grimes.

The fifth arrest occurred Monday. Brandon Michael Miller, 27, a resident of Jenkins Cemetery Road in Bogalusa, is in the Washington Parish Jail charged with burglary of an inhabited dwelling, eight counts of theft of firearms, theft of more than $25,000, criminal conspiracy to burglary of an inhabited dwelling, and eight counts of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. As of Monday afternoon, no bond had been set for Miller.

Miller also is a frequent resident of the Washington Parish Jail, with 12 arrests since January 2009, Haley said. His arrests were for offenses including drug possession, failure to appear and traffic offenses.

“Our detectives are to be commended for solving this burglary so quickly and making the five arrests,” Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal said. “This gang of criminals is no match for the tenacity and professionalism of our detectives. The thieves are now in jail where they belong and Jason Todd Grimes will join them sooner or later when he is located and arrested.

A thief can run and hide for only so long. Eventually, Jason Todd Grimes will be an inmate in the Washington Parish Jail. Someone reading this today knows where he is hiding. If you are that person, contact Detective Glenn and let him know where to find Grimes.”
