Carolyn Paul

Carolyn Rose Paul, a retired RN, was a native of Bogalusa, a longtime resident of Montgomery, Ala., retired to Miramar Beach, Fla., and returned home to Bogalusa to live out the rest of her blessed life with family and lifelong friends. Ms. Paul passed away on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, at her beloved family home in Paul’s Pasture in Bogalusa.

She was 78, a graduate of Troy University, BSN graduate from the University of Alabama Birmingham, and attended Louisiana State University for undergraduate. She was a critical care nurse and house supervisor at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, Ala., and Crestview, Fla., for over 25 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Loyd and Bessie Adams Paul; sister, Janella Paul Fleming; and brothers, Gary and Roger Paul; and former husband, Col. Joseph D. Duckworth.

She is survived by her two sons, Captain Jeffrey Scott Duckworth of San Diego, Calif., and Blake Loyd Duckworth retired Temple, Ga.; her granddaughters, Lindsey Brooke Duckworth, Lauren Elisabeth Duckworth Compton and Chandler Gray Duckworth. She is also survived by one great-grandson, Mason Miller; and two great-granddaughters, Lilyanna Rose Miller and Chesney Kate Compton. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 25, at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, located at 541 Ave. F in Bogalusa. Attendees are encouraged to wear purple and gold, as Carolyn was an avid LSU supporter.

A private family interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memorial to Carolyn Paul to First Baptist Church Adult Choir, First Baptist Church, 541 Ave. F, Bogalusa, LA 70427.
