Through a deep commitment to safety, the employees at International Paper’s Bogalusa Box Plant recently achieved a significant safety milestone by surpassing two years with no Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) recordable injuries.

An OSHA recordable injury is a work-related injury or illness that causes a fatality, unconsciousness, lost work days, restricted work activity, job transfer or medical care beyond first aid.

“Working safely for two years is a tremendous accomplishment that requires the active participation of every team member,” said plant manager Keith Law. “The Bogalusa team is dedicated to making our plant a safe work environment so that all team members return home to their families in the same condition that they arrived.”

The Bogalusa team attributes their safety success to education and training, a focus on housekeeping and a plant-wide dedication to looking out for one another.

“We are creating a culture where we are all safety leaders,” Law said. “All of us are responsible for ourselves and for each other.”
